Price table · 10 E-scooters

A decent e-scooter doesn’t have to be expensive. Here you will find entry-level models under €300 – and learn which compromises you make in this price range.

What you get in this price range

Budget e-scooters are usually designed for short journeys on good tarmac. Typical specs are a 250 to 350 W motor, a battery of around 250 to 350 Wh, 8.5-inch tyres and a simple drum or disc brake plus an electric brake. That is enough for journeys of up to about 10 to 15 kilometres each way and for riders up to around 100 kg.

The savings are mainly made on suspension, tyre size, battery and build quality. That is fine if you mostly ride in town on smooth surfaces.

What to check even on budget scooters

You can compromise on price, but not on safety and approval:

  • German ABE and insurance plate holder – no approval, no road use
  • Two independent brakes, front and rear lights, side reflectors
  • Maximum load suited to your weight
  • Spare parts such as tyres and inner tubes should be available
  • German-language manual and reachable customer service

Tyres: pneumatic, honeycomb or solid rubber?

Many budget scooters use honeycomb or solid rubber tyres. They are puncture-proof but transmit every bump directly to the handlebar and your feet. Pneumatic tyres are much more comfortable and grip better in the wet, but they can go flat. If you ride a lot on cobblestones or poor cycle paths, a model with pneumatic tyres or suspension is the better choice – even if it costs a little more.

Use the price history

Prices fluctuate a lot, especially for entry-level models – for example on sale days or at the end of the season in autumn. On our product pages you can see the price history and tell whether a deal is genuinely good. Previous-year models from well-known brands also often drop into this price range and are frequently a better choice than no-name scooters with exaggerated specs.

Who a budget scooter is enough for

An entry-level scooter is a good choice for occasional riders, short trips to the station or the shops and for anyone who first wants to try out whether riding an e-scooter fits into their daily life. If you commute long distances every day, you are better off investing in a sturdier model with a larger battery.
